Heavy duty utility carts are durable, ergonomic, sturdy, and easy to clean. They feature weight capacities of over 1,000 pounds per shelf, with an average rolling capacity of 2,000 lbs. Extreme duty carts are intended to transport loads consisting of any material that can be safely stored on their shelves. Their simple design and easy maneuverability makes them a smart, ergonomic choice for organizations who wish to protect their workers from fatigue, back strain, and injury. Carts can also be stabilized to act as temporary, stationary storage racks in select applications. Standard material builds feature industrial strength aluminum, but stainless steel carts can be ordered for special clean room and health care environments.
Heavy duty utility carts are found in a wide range of medical, manufacturing, distribution, cold storage, garages, and correctional environments. They can be used outdoors and indoors, which makes them popular items for construction sites. There are two basic designs offered by Easy Rack. The first of these can be used for practically any heavy-duty material transport, including audio-visual equipment for corporate environments. The second model design we offer is engineered specifically for various types of correctional facilities.
Let’s take a look at the basic two-tiered design first. These extreme duty carts are constructed out of 1 1/2”x 1 1/2”x.070” wall tubing. The two-tiered frame features a .080” thick aluminum shelf on both the top and the bottom of the unit. Shelf sizes range from 22" x 34", 22" x 51", 29" x 34", and 29" x 51". Each shelf features a 1,500 lb. weight capacity, which allows a heavy duty utility cart to store up to 3,000 pounds when stationary. Rolling capacity for the entire assembly is rated at 2,000 lbs. Maneuverability is accomplished by means of 6” casters with a platform type design. Two casters swivel, while the other two are rigid. This increases control during maneuvering and stability when the cart is stationary.
As noted above, two-tiered carts are the most commonly used design type. Ideal for cold storage environments and clean rooms, they can be quickly sanitized and easily maneuvered in crowded areas. Corporate offices also use this design to transport heavy audio-visual equipment and computer equipment. Repair shops can use them to transport heavy engine parts and tools. Hospitals use them to transport a variety of specialized medical equipment that can easily add up to well over 1,000 pounds.
The second design type offer is the correctional cart. These heavy duty utility carts are used in prisons, jails, mental wards, juvenile detention centers, and juvenile boot camps. Unlike their larger industrial counterparts, these units feature three shelves measuring 18-1/2"W x 39"H x 32-1/2"D. Weight capacity per shelf is 540 lbs. The frame features a heli-arc, all-welded design with no rivets and a handle strap also welded to the frame. Shelf lips are hemmed as an anti-ligature safety measure.
All carts come with a lifetime guarantee against rust and corrosion. Carts are also warranted for a period of five years against workmanship and material defects defects.
